X-Rays
Eddie Mabo was sent to a specialist at Townsville General Hospital, where they conducted tests and x-rayed his spine. The tests revealed he had advanced cancer of the throat, while a secondary cancer had spread to his spine. The diagnosis was terminal; he had only months to live.
Mabo's lawyers were informed of the diagnosis, but the Justices of the High Court were still in the process of writing their judgements.
