Gove Case
In 1971, the Gove Land Rights Case was the first court action brought by Aboriginal Australians to argue that they should be accepted in Australian law as the rightful owners of their traditional country.
However, Justice Blackburn of the Northern Territory Supreme Court, felt bound by earlier precedents and rejected the claim.
