'At first it was hard. Mainly because he was going away so much and I was stuck with all the kids on my own. And we was paying off the house at that time and had our mouths to feed. And every cent we had, well we put it together for Koiki's fare to go from A to B, even if he had to go to Cairns to see Greg McIntyre, well he'd jump on the bus and go up. When he had to go to Brisbane he'd jump on a bus. But because he was away so much that he couldn't hold down a job.'
