'He'd come home and he'd talk, and like he could see a funny side to things, especially with the judges and the oppositions. Come home, and we'd talk and laugh about it. But he really took it as fun. He didn't get uptight about the judges or the opposition. I think he took it really well. And even when some of his own countrymen went on the other side.'
