Queensland Witnesses
More Information

Twenty four Murray Islanders gave evidence in support of the plaintiffs' case.

In response, Queensland called nine Islanders to dispute their evidence including the brother of one of the plaintiffs.

Queensland also led evidence from six non-Meriam people, five of whom were characterised as 'expert witnesses' because of their specialist knowledge of Meriam history or culture.

For both sides, the stakes were extraordinarily high.
